Agri-based Women Livelihood Training
Agriculture remains a powerful engine for rural livelihoods in India—but for many women, access to land, skills, and resources has remained limited. Oleena Mahila Samajam is changing that reality by equipping women with practical, profitable agricultural training.
In partnership with the Kerala State Horticulture Mission, Oleena organizes regular training programs across rural and tribal villages. These workshops cover a variety of topics including mushroom cultivation, apiculture (beekeeping), organic farming, medicinal plants, and integrated kitchen gardens.
Each session combines hands-on practice with entrepreneurial skills—helping women not only learn a trade but also understand how to generate income, manage supply chains, and sell their produce in local markets. These microenterprises are designed to be small, manageable, and immediately impactful.
Oleena’s approach is holistic: it includes follow-up support, group formation for cooperative marketing, and linkages with government subsidies or schemes. The organization ensures that participants receive mentorship and guidance long after the training ends.
By focusing on low-investment, high-impact agri-initiatives, Oleena enables women to become providers and decision-makers in their households. This not only strengthens economic resilience but also enhances community food security and environmental sustainability.
In empowering rural women through agriculture, Oleena cultivates much more than crops—it cultivates confidence, independence, and long-term stability.
"Oleena promotes self-employment for rural women through agricultural training programs in partnership with the Kerala Horticulture Mission. From mushroom farming to beekeeping, women gain practical skills and income opportunities rooted in local sustainability."
